Multimedia Tools
Multimedia enhances our text messaging in many ways, since we majority of the time text people we aren't seeing face to face to have this added enhancement makes it even better and easier to communicate with those who may be far away from us and in a very fast time interaction. One good simple example of how this is done with picture messaging, we are able to send pictures to individuals phones and they are able to share in our experiences in the things we may be seeing at the moment. Animoto is a cloud-based tool that allows users to easily incorporate pictures, video clips, music and text messages into what they want to present. Here is the link to it, http://animoto.com/. It looks to be very user friendly. There is a free option as well as a paid option, you can also use it for personal use as well as business usage. I would consider Facebook a multimedia tool as well. You're able to share pictures, video, message individuals, place things on their pages and this is all free. Facebook is very user friendly as well, I believe once you get the hang of it, it may be the most user friendly multimedia tool out there, the link is www.facebook.com. Garageband is a site that is ran through Apple. Through your Mac you are able to create music. I believe this would be good for someone who is into music or just likes playing around with various songs, beats, tunes, etc. You have to have a Mac computer I believe which limits a lot of users, also unless you are heavy into music I don't see many people making use of this app. I think the website is pretty flashy though. Here is the link to the site, http://www.apple.com/mac/garageband/?cid=oas-us-domains-garageband.com. Also you are able to share your creation with basically the world or a few close friends and family members. PowerPoint is a good old faithful way of using multimedia that is simple, clean looking and you can get very creative with it. PowerPoint is great for business presentations, class assignments, etc. I have always enjoyed creating projects using this application. It's almost limitless what you can do. I believe many people who sit down and play with PowerPoint will find out how easy it is to create things. You can find PowerPoint through any Microsoft package.

Dalilah,
ReplyDeleteI like that you focused on text messaging. I think that it gives readers more of a personal feel regarding the multimedia tools. I think Facebook is a great multimedia tool. My Grandma is even capable of using Facebook which I love since I have been so far away from my family for so long.
Text messaging is a great topic to bring up. Since the majority of smartphones allowing people to share photos and even use 'facetime', multimedia is being used everyday in some form or fashion. I can share a video or website link with my family in friends through a text message in just a few seconds. This is definitely a great way to share entertaining news and to reach lots of people with only a few clicks.
ReplyDeleteYes, it truly is amazing all that you can do these days with phones.
DeleteI think that PowerPoint is the most useful because of the fact that people are most familiar with it. Other than that the other applications are very interesting and intuitive. As far as text messaging friends, family and coworkers, you can also use glide. With this application you can talk to someone through short 2 min videos. It is a great way to catch up with people that you haven't seen in a while.
ReplyDeleteDalia - I don't think of PowerPoint when I think of multimedia tools, but you are right that it offers a lot of options. Do you use it for school projects or do you also get to use it for work? It is definitely the standard tool that educators default to.
